DA VINCI REIMAGINED

Dive into an immersive experience about Da Vinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper. Get closer to the genius than ever and discover in a 360 audiovisual exhibition all the hidden secretes about one of the world’s most famous paintings.

FOR THE FIRST TIME THE SECRETS AND MYSTERIES THAT BLAZE AROUND THE LAST SUPPER AND THE TRUTH BEHIND THEM HAVE BEEN REVEALED

Many conspiracy theories lie behind every stroke and geometric composition of this masterpiece, but how many of them contain some truth?

The immersive experience takes visitors on a visually thrilling and informative journey through the captivating history that surrounds this iconic masterpiece.

ONE OF YOU WILL BETRAY ME - Chapter 1

A visit to the original in the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan offers the visitor only a window of 15 minutes. Too short to take a close look at the masterpiece or to emotionally surrender to its fascination. This is the opportunity the exhibition offers its visitors.

In an audiovisual 360-degree exhibition, visitors are immersed in the scenario of Jesus' Last Supper. With the help of modern technology, every detail is made visible and the meticulously staged reactions of the 12 disciples to Jesus' proclamation "One of you will betray me!”.

The multimedia light installation recreates the original colorfulness of the Da Vinci work. Several restorations had to be undertaken over the centuries to save the original, which had flaked away due to damp and mold, from decay. The new exhibition makes the painting more tangible to the viewer than ever before.

RESTAURATION - Chapter 2

The painting by Leonardo da Vinci was done on dry plaster (secco technique) and had already suffered severe damage in the 16th century. Further damage was caused by the British bomb which tore up the cloister

In February 1946, the refectory was reconstructed, but Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece was found "moldy". There was great concern that the "Last Supper" would disintegrate at the slightest touch. The restoration by Mauro Pellicoioli took 8 years. But even this restoration was not permanent. In 1978, a revision was carried out by restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon.

The completion of the restored masterpiece was in 1999. Since then, only 100 people per hour have been allowed into the empty repertory, hermetically sealed off from the outside world.

POP Culture - Chapter 3

The influence of Da Vinci's work extends into today's pop culture and there are countless replicas and adaptations by artists such as Andy Warhol, Ben Willens, Zhang Hongto and Renato Casaro

THE ARTIST - Chapter 4

Leonardo da Vinci - painter, sculptor, Renaissance architect, anatomist, mechanic, engineer and natural philosopher.

He started numerous projects but completed only a few. He experimented, drew and invented.

His art carries a scientific knowledge and shows high aesthetics as well as outstanding beauty.
